In this work, measurements of spectral transmittance and optical response properties of CdC1 2Cu2C1 2 coatings are presented . The coatings are also examined with the aid of scanning electron micrographs and X-ray diffraction . To explain the features observed in spectral transmittance of darkened photochromic films, some calculations based on a colloidal model obtained from the generalized Maxwell-Garnett theory are carried out . The results about the optical responses to this sample include treatments for different wavelength intervals of irradiation, temperatures and intensities . The optical recording characteristics were determined by measuring the diffraction efficiency as a function of the exposure time for a given spatial frequency .
