“…The optical transmission characteristics of LGO-2 shown in figure 2 are in agreement with those reported in literature (Yue et al 1998). The pale amber colouration in Ge 3d 30⋅16 32⋅32 LGO-2 crystals observed has also been reported by other investigators (Houlton et al 1975;Iwata 1977).…”

“…The compositions, PbGeO 3 (LGO-1) and Pb 5 Ge 3 O 11 (LGO-2), both exhibit ferroelectric properties. Consequently, efforts were made during seventies to grow LGO-2 single crystals of high quality and characterize them for growth related defects and photorefractive, electro-optic and pyroelectric properties (Iwasaki et al 1971a, b;Bichard et al 1972;Houlton et al 1975;Goswami et al 1998;Yue et al 1998;Reyher et al 2001). Besides, several chemical substitutions for tetrahedral oxygen coordinated Ge 4+ ion or in the large Pb polyhedral were also attempted to improve the pyroelectric sensitivity of LGO-2 (Iwasaki et al 1972;Watton et al 1976;Bush and Venevtsev 1979;Otto et al 1980;Landolt-Börnstein 1982;Talik et al 2006).…”

“…Moreover, its electro-mechanical, pyroelectric and electrooptical properties were reported in Refs. [25][26][27][28][29][30]. The value of the phase transition temperature between the FE and PE phases, T C , were reported to be of about 450 K [21,26,31] or 451 K [20,29,30].…”

“…In consequence, its optical properties are of great interest: recently, the photorefractive effects in undoped and Fe-and Rh-doped LGO crystals and lead barium Pb x Ba x Ge 3 O 11 have been investigated [5].…”

“…A small amount of an appropriate metal ion additive significantly affects the crystallization process and physical properties of LGO crystals [5,6]. Generally as the metal ion dopant concentration is increased, the Curie temperature (T c ) decreases.…”
