Photothermal Regenerated Fibers with Enhanced Toughness: Silk Fibroin/MoS2 Nanoparticles

Abstract: The distinctive mechanical and photothermal properties of Molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) have the potential for improving the functionality and utilization of silk products in various sectors. This paper reports on the preparation of regenerated silk fibroin/molybdenum disulfide (RSF/MoS2) nanoparticles hybrid fiber with different MoS2 nanoparticles contents by wet spinning. The simulated sunlight test indicated that the temperature of 2 wt% RSF/MoS2 nanoparticles hybrid fibers could rise from 20.0 °C to 81.0 °C in… Show more

“…It illustrates that the addition of CeO 2 NPs would not transform the secondary structure of RSF. In this paper, the relative content of the secondary structure of RSF fiber is calculated semi-quantitatively by analyzing the peak fitting of the IR spectrum amide III region (1200-1300 cm À1 ), 29 because the analysis results of I region and II region are affected by water and oxygen. 36 The content β-sheet of RSF/CeO 2 NPs hybrid fibers is increased 20.58% compared with RSF (Table 2).…”

“…RSF/MoS 2 NPs and RSF/WuO 3 NPs hybrid fibers with high strength and thermal stability through wet spinning technology were produced by our research group. 28,29 In this paper, RSF/CeO 2 NPs hybrid fibers were prepared successfully by wet spinning. 25,30 The morphology, secondary structure, and stability were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) to explain the reasons why RSF/CeO 2 NPs hybrid fibers had eximious mechanical properties and the longer its service life.…”

“…The filling-modified SF fibers can be prepared by uniformly adding some metal or inorganic nanomaterials into SF to make them possess different functions, such as electrical conductivity, [7,18,30,31] photothermal property, [9,72,73] photoconductivity, [33,87] photochromism, [74] magnetic responsiveness, [75] and antimicrobial property. [76] For instance, adding some conductive fillers to SF solution to endow SF fibers with electrical conductivity is a common method.…”

“…At the same time, reduction of crystal particles makes the material's surface area larger, which is more conducive to the formation of chemical bonds with other organic framework materials [ 10 , 11 ]. Silk fibroin is the main component of natural silk and has been clinically used in the production of surgical sutures and artificial skin due to its low immunogenicity and good biocompatibility [ 12 , 13 ]. Chitosan is the only alkaline polysaccharide in natural polysaccharides.…”
