Physiological Activity of the Glycyrrhiza uralensis Extracts as a Cosmetic Product

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the biological and cosmetic properties and the industrial value of the Glycyrrhiza uralensis (G. uralensis) extracts. Methods: The protective effects and anti-inflammatory efficacy of G. uralensis in HaCaT cells and RAW 264.7 cells against anti-oxidation and oxidative stress were analyzed, and the secretion of β-hexosaminidase, which plays a leading role in easing allergic symptoms, was measured. Moreover, anti-bacterial activity on human skin pathogens was mea… Show more

“…The methyl mercaptan reduction effect of Cheonggugamrosu , a mixture of dried clove buds, fruit of S. chinensis and G. uralensis , was 82.28%, while gargling mint reduced halitosis by 46.77% 25 . G. uralensis is widely used as a medicinal herb in Korea, China and Japan, and has been identified with anti‐allergic, anti‐inflammatory, 26 cell protection 27 and anticancer effects 28 . In addition, with regards to its effect on oral disease, the use of mouthwash containing G. uralensis is gaining attention as its anticaries 29 and antibacterial effects to bacterium‐causing periodontal disorders were reported 30 .…”

(Kim & Jeong, 2014 (Kim & Chung, 1975;Kim et al, 2010a).…”
