Abstract: Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cusson (CMC) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine that has been widely grown and used in Asia. It is also known as “She chuang zi” in China (Chinese: 蛇床子), “Jashoshi” in Japan, “Sasangia” in Korea, and “Xa sang tu” in Vietnam. “…Many of the inflammatory disease conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, serum sickness, glomerulonephritis, and systemic lupus erythematosus are normally associated with denaturation of tissue proteins. In arthritis, for example, the denaturation of tissue proteins leads to the production of autoantigens [ 15 , 16 ]. Therefore, any agent that can prevent protein denaturation would be worth considering for anti-inflammatory drug development.…”

“…It was clear that filaggrin expression was significantly increased by the topical treatment of TCFC (Figure 8). Takamori et al, 2018). In addition, 20 and 80 mg/mL of TCTC notably suppressed the thymus index of rats, but only 80 mg/mL of TCTC exerted an inhibitory effect on the spleen index (Figure 5).…”

“…Until now, the coumarin compounds from C. monnieri have been confirmed to exert improved effects on allergic asthma and contact dermatitis (Chiang et al, 2017;Matsuda, Tomohiro, Ido, & Kubo, 2002). Only a few pharmacological studies of the effects of coumarins from C. monnieri on AD have been reported, no profound research on AD has been found to date (Sun, Yang, & Lenon, 2020).…”

“…Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cusson (Chinese name: She chuang zi) is an important herbal medicine that has been used to treat chronic renal diseases, female genitals, male impotence, frigidity, and skin diseases for centuries in China ( Sun et al, 2020 ). It was documented that the biological activities of Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cusson are mainly mediated by its coumarin components, among which osthole has been studied extensively and is considered to play a vital role in the clinical efficacy of this herb ( Li et al, 2015 ).…”
