Pityriasis lichenoides: Long‐term follow‐up study

Abstract: Pityriasis lichenoides is a predominantly pediatric disorder. The time course of pityriasis lichenoides chronica is significantly longer than that of pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta. Pityriasis lichenoides chronica may persist with pigmentary alterations in the absence of other signs of active inflammation. Treatment response is often limited, particularly for patients with pityriasis lichenoides chronica.

“…50 Only some studies compared treatment responses of patients with PL in a long-term follow-up to assess how are durable the results after the cessation of treatment. Zang et al 51 reviewed treatment responses of 75 children with PL (50 PLC and 25 PLEVA) and conducted a long-term follow-up via telephone interviews but did not report relapse rates for each treatment. There were no differences in terms of response to treatment between patients with PLC and PLEVA.…”

“…Pityriasis lichenoides chronica (PLC) is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder of unknown etiology (Maranda et al, 2016). It is considered a therapeutic challenge because of its frequently relapsing course (Zang et al, 2018). Clinical and therapeutic information of cutaneous inflammatory disorders in dark skin, including PLC, is scarce (Charrow et al, 2017).…”

“…Nineteen Hispanic patients with PLC were included. Clinical and demographic characteristics are shown in Table 1 (Maranda et al, 2016;Zang et al, 2018). Currently, data regarding the role of skin phototype in the clinical response to NB-UVB phototherapy is contradictory.…”

“…PLEVA).
