“…It was found that the mean umbilical venous blood pH was significantly lower and the haematocrit significantly higher than the appropriate normal mean for gestation for these diabetic pregnancies. However, the Doppler indices of the placental and fetal circulations were essentially normal, except in some of the cases complicated by pre-eclampsia or intrauterine growth restriction (Salvesen et al, 1993). It was thus concluded that maternal diabetes mellitus was not associated with abnormalities in Doppler indices of the placental or fetal circulations.…”
