Furthermore, placenta-derived cells and tissue might be immune privileged due to a lack of expression of Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II antigens, 12,15,21,43,44 and acellular preparations of natural extracellular matrices are of low immunogenicity 45 and could be sterilized before transplantation to reduce infectious risks. 46 The method described might also be adoptable to generate tissue grafts other than osteogenic, as our cells are known to adopt several mesenchymal (myogenic, adipogenic, chondrogenic) and neurogenic lineages, 21,22 and the scaffold could be used in conjunction with stem cells derived from further tissues (blood, bone marrow) to broaden its appliance.…”
