Planning of City Transportation Infrastructure Based on Macro Simulation Model

Abstract: Palembang City having an area of 358.55 km 2 with a total population of approximately 1.8 million people is one of the main cities in Indonesia. A city transport modelling is important in a city transportation planning particularly to overcome the existing transportation problem such as traffic congestion. In this study, Palembang City transportation model was developed using the PTV Visum Program whose transportation modelling was based on the four-step model of transportation. The result of the study shows t… Show more

“…The same authors also deal with the analysis of transport in the town of Martin [31]. The analysis of traffic in Palembang City, Indonesia, was carried out in [32], which uses a model created in the PTV VISUM program. The same software for optimizing the public transport was used in [23]; it bridges the gap between the development of optimization algorithms and their applications in real-world planning processes.…”

“…To assess the effectiveness of measures for the development of transport systems, transport modeling at the micro level is widely used. Macroscopic modeling is used to predict changes in transport demand and redistribute traffic flows on the road network [19][20][21][22].…”

“…Further, the level of service is a sort of analysis on-road performance to compare the traffic volume to the road capacity within particular period of time. There were some research using PTV VISUM as the traffic modeling in some areas such as at Banda Aceh (Hendra, 2017), at Samarinda City (Praditya, 2016), at Bangka island (Yunus, 2018), at Palembang city (Fuady, 2015 andArliansyah, 2017) and at Yogyakarta to predict the effect of airport relocation to the surrounds road network at Ypgyakarta (Fitrada, Munawar, and Dewanti 2019). Also, modelling the flows of the traffic with some scenarios, especially the changes of road network or pattern, also held in order to reach better performance (Grigonis, 2014, Taplin, 1999, and Yatski, 2007.…”
