Polaron and Form Effects on the Polarizabilities of Shallow Donors in Quantum Well Wires

Abstract: Polarizability and binding energy values are estimated for a shallow donor confined to move in a quantum well wire with a rectangular and square cross-section. We present our results for the polarizability as a function of the size of the wire. The electron±longitudinal optical (LO) phonon interaction is taken into account using the adiabatic approximation. It is found that the polaronic effects decrease significantly the polarizability and increase with increasing wire size.
