Polarizability and binding energy values are estimated for a shallow donor confined to move in a quantum well wire with a rectangular and square cross-section. We present our results for the polarizability as a function of the size of the wire. The electron±longitudinal optical (LO) phonon interaction is taken into account using the adiabatic approximation. It is found that the polaronic effects decrease significantly the polarizability and increase with increasing wire size.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
