Poly[piperazinediium [aquabis(μ-pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylato)zincate] dihydrate]

Abstract: Key indicators: single-crystal X-ray study; T = 100 K; mean (C-C) = 0.002 Å; R factor = 0.025; wR factor = 0.069; data-to-parameter ratio = 20.0.The polymeric title compound, {(C 4 H 12 N 2 )[Zn(C 7 H 3 NO 4 ) 2 -(H 2 O)]Á2H 2 O} n , was obtained by the reaction of zinc(II) nitrate hexahydrate with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH 2 )(py-2,5-dc) (where pipz is piperazine and py-2,5-dcH 2 is pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid) in aqueous solution. Each Zn II atom is coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry… Show more

“…Some supramolecular motifs of hydrogen bonding patterns of symmetric and translational repetitive occurrence are important in the crystal and chemical engineering and technology [7]. To the best of our knowledge, the single-crystal X-ray structures of proton transfer compounds with 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid, (Him) 2 [12] were also reported.…”

“…Pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (py-2,5-dcH 2 ) has unique features because of the presence of two carboxylate groups (O donor atoms) and the pyridine ring (N donor atom), which aids to increase the dimensionality of the assembled covalent network. Therefore, it is most likely that py-2,5-dcH 2 will form low symmetric structures with metals (Aghabozorg, Derikvand, et al, 2008;Xu et al, 2008;Çolak et al, 2010). Our research group has recently focused on one-pot synthesis of water soluble self-assembly systems that can function as suitable ligands in the synthesis of metal complexes (Aghabozorg, Manteghi & Sheshmani, 2008).…”
