Polyethyleneimine/Manganese‐Doped ZnS Nanocomposites: A Multifunctional Probe for Two‐Color Imaging and Three‐Dimensional Sensing

Abstract: We present herein a new single probe, polyethyleneimine (PEI)/MnZnS nanocomposite, for two‐color imaging and three‐dimensional sensing. The PEI/MnZnS nanocomposite possesses unique, individually excited, two‐color, photoluminescence (PL) emissions at λ=495 and 585 nm; this allows two‐color imaging of the same space just by changing the excitation wavelength in situ. Moreover, the two PL bands of the nanocomposite are orthogonal, which allows the discrimination of eight proteins just by recording the three‐ch… Show more

“…Multiwavelength luminescent and colorimetric reporter moieties were demonstrated to respond to different chemicals provided by several reporter units in a moiety. Such reporters were developed to exhibit absorbance, fluorescence, electroluminescence, and other changes in relation to detected chemicals. , Compounds for dual-, triple-, and quadruple-channel sensing of volatile and nonvolatile analytes have been demonstrated. …”

“…HyPEI contains abundant primary, secondary, and tertiary amine groups, and has a strong affinity towards the complexation of transition metals [54]. Consequently, HyPEI has been used in water treatment and as a support for nanoparticles [51,55]. In synthetic laboratories, HyPEI is prepared by ring-opening polymerization of aziridine (Scheme 3) in 1M aqueous HCl at 20-80 • C [56].…”

“…When heparin was totally absent, the FA value of PEI-Mn-ZnS QDs was independent of AT. At pH 7.4, the PEI-Mn-ZnS QDs with abundant amino groups were highly positive charged, 37,42 heparin has a specic interaction towards AT, 39 thus the presence of heparin would mediate the interaction of PEI-Mn-ZnS QDs and AT and result in the increase of the FA value. When the heparin amount was low (e.g.…”
