Polymeric Nanocapsule from Silica Nanoparticle@Cross-linked Polymer Nanoparticles via One-Pot Approach

Abstract: A facile strategy was developed here to prepare cross-linked polymeric nanocapsules (CP nanocapsules) with silica nanoparticles as templates. The silica nanoparticle@cross-linked polymer nanoparticles were prepared by the encapsulation of the silica nanoparticles by the one-pot approach via surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization of hydroxyethyl acrylate in the presence ofN,N′-methylenebisacrylamide as a cross-linker from the initiator-modified silica nanoparticles. After the silica nanoparticle… Show more

“…The post-polymerized template, which contains a polystyrene/DVB membrane, was immersed in a HF solution for seven days to ensure clean etching of the SiO 2 particles and glass plates. [40][41][42] The HF treated cross-linked porous membrane was washed with distilled water thoroughly and dried. The graing of the sulfonyl(phenylsulfonyl)imide group on the porous membrane was done in two steps.…”

“…To further improve the structural stability of hollow polymeric nanocapsules, the covalent cross-linking approach has been introduced in combination with the surface-initiated CRP from core templates. A three-step approach has been typically employed. Relatively uniform polymer layers bearing reactive functionalities were grafted at the surface of nanoparticles via surface-initiated CRP at first, the polymer layer was then covalently cross-linked; in the final step, the core templates were removed via physical or chemical treatments to afford hollow polymeric nanocapsules.…”
