Polymerization of halogenated anilines by plasma

Abstract: This work presents an experimental study about the electric conductivity in polyanilines synthesized by plasma obtained from halogenated anilines in which chlorine or iodine atoms are bonded in meta position to the aniline rings. The objective is to study the enhancement of the electric conductivity of these structures due to the addition of electronegative atoms to the polymeric chains. The results show that the halogenated anilines produce polymers with an electric conductivity up to eight orders of magnitud… Show more

“…Diameters and dispersions (FWHM/2) of the fibers were smaller in PANI due to the combination of experimental conditions applied to the electrospinning, as the use of a static collector and 20 kV instead 12.2 kV applied to the other fibers. Norris et al (2000) reported diameters of 1.6 μm for PEO fibers and 1.9 μm for PANI/PEO hybrid fibers 12 . In this work, the mean diameters of PEO and PANI/PEO fibers were similar because of the electrospinning conditions were also similar.…”

“…In this study, the chemical structure of the then‐obtained polyfluoroaniline (PFANi) and its growth kinetics are examined and compared with plasma‐PANi in order to study the influence of fluorine substitution. In the literature,9 it has been found that the plasma polymerization in CW mode of aniline substituted in meta position with Cl or I atoms leads to the increase of the polymer conductivity and crystallinity.…”
