“…However, the association of IL‐1A −889C/T polymorphism and cancer risk was not uniform, even conflicting in specific population and various case–control studies. Ioana Braicu et al [29] showed that IL‐1A −889C/T polymorphism does not appear to be risk factor for ovarian cancer; No association was found between prostate cancer risk and IL‐1A −889C/T polymorphisms in Spanish populations [30], these were consistent with the present results. In our study, the −889C/T was not associated with the NPC susceptibility.…”

“…IL1B encodes IL1beta, a pro-inflammatory cytokine that also has multiple effects on both the immune system and directly on ovarian cancer cells [154]. In another prospective study of 147 advanced ovarian cancer patients, an association between two IL10 promoter polymorphisms and disease-free and overall survival overall survival was observed, possibly due to its relationship with optimal tumor debulking [155]. Lastly, in addition to cytokines, genes encoding other modulators of the immune system have been implicated in disease recurrence and progression.…”

“…The mechanism of rs3783553 polymorphism affecting the risk of ovarian cancer is urgently needed. The results published by Braicu et al [23], regarding the role of IL-10 polymorphism in the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer, revealed the polymorphism of IL-10 promoter gene significantly correlated with the residual tumor mass. This is an infrequent article demonstrated that gene polymorphism was linked with the optimal cytoreductive surgery-the only controllable factor affecting overall survival of ovarian cancer patients.…”

“…Results from Frede S's group suggest that IL-1b induced the expression of adrenomedullin mRNA through activation of hypoxia inducible factor 1 and enhanced the hypoxia-induced expression in the human ovarian cancer cell line ''OVCAR-3'' [22]. Though studies had showed that IL-1A-889C/T polymorphism might influences IL-1a expression in cancer, Braicu et al [23] found IL-1A-899C/T polymorphism did not appear to be a risk factor for ovarian cancer. Another research group demonstrated that allele 2 polymorphism of the IL-RN gene is significantly associated with ovarian cancer [13], while presence of the IL-1RN allele 2 was associated with enhanced IL-1b production in vitro [24].…”
