Polymyositis anti-SRP antibodies and pregnancy about 2 cases

Abstract: Anti-SRP myopathy represents 4 to 6% of all the inflammatory myopathies. It has been described since the 80s and its influence on pregnancy and vice versa has been highlighted recently. We report two cases of anti-SRP myopathy associated with pregnancy. In the first case, the initial manifestations of the disease started in post partum and the second case was an anti-SRP myopathy patient before pregnancy. In both cases we objectified outbreaks during post-partum. Pregnancy seems to promote outbreaks. The inact… Show more

“…They speculated that overexposure to fetal TIF1-γ autoantigens, which are reportedly expressed strongly in mammalian embryos, might have contributed to the onset of PM/DM ( 28 - 30 ). We also found another three cases of DM that developed in the postpartum period and were MSA-positive ( 31 - 33 ). Among them, anti-Jo-I, anti-SRP, and anti-Mi-2 antibody were detected in one case each.…”

“…There have been only a few reported cases of IMNM during pregnancy. Previously reported cases of IMNM associated with pregnancy are summarized in Table 1 4–10 . Four cases, including the present case, developed and were diagnosed during pregnancy, and three cases developed postpartum.…”

“…Previously reported cases of IMNM associated with pregnancy are summarized in Table 1. [4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Four cases, including the present case, developed and were diagnosed during pregnancy, and three cases developed postpartum. In all three cases of recurrence, treatment was interrupted at the time of pregnancy, suggesting that recurrence due to the interruption of treatment may be more important than exacerbation of symptoms due to pregnancy.…”

“…Regarding the disease activity of preexisting DM/PM during pregnancy, DM/PM remained inactive/in remission during pregnancy in 105 cases where 50 were in the active phase. Increased activity (flare/exacerbation/relapse) of DM/PM was observed during pregnancy in six patients 9–12 and after delivery in nine patients 5,14–16 . Decreased disease activity (disease improvement/resolution) during gestation and the postpartum period was documented in eight 5,17 and three 14 cases, respectively.…”
