Polystyrene nanoparticle-templated hollow titania nanosphere monolayers as ordered scaffolds

Abstract: A novel class of ordered mesoporous titania scaffolds prepared via colloidal lithography is attractive for perovskite-based solar cells thanks to the increased light-trapping inside the perovskite layer induced by the feedback structure and to the improved perovskite film.

“…To minimize hysteretic behavior, 27 we fabricated inverted solar cell structures 11,12,28 (Fig. 2) following a fabrication procedure used in previous experiments, 29,30 and deposited the perovskite layer by employing a deposition procedure recommended by the material supplier (Ossila Ltd.). 31 Finally, the cells were encapsulated with a glass slide to minimize degradation due to environmental oxygen/moisture.…”

“…Hence, this suggests that although the in operando behaviour is qualitatively identical, neutrons seem to trigger a different degradation pathway. Therefore, to obtain a quantitative insight into this behavior we analyzed the cells' characteristics by means of the one-diode equation (eqn (1)): 29,34,35 IðV…”

“…Since the pioneering work of Miyasaka and co‐workers in 2009, PSCs have achieved impressive advancements in power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) up to the current world record of 23.3% . The rapid rise of hybrid perovskite materials, the most common being methylammonium lead triiodide (CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 ) and its mixed iodide‐chloride analogue (CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3− x Cl x ), is the result of a unique combination of properties, including broad and strong light absorption, direct and tunable bandgaps, high charge‐carrier mobilities, long carrier diffusion lengths, and solution processability . Given their high performances and low fabrication costs, PSCs are very appealing for ST applications.…”

“…common ETL used in n-i-p PSCs which is typically annealed at high temperature (>450 °C), in a process that is flexible and also adaptable to 3D nanostructuring via a variety of approaches, including nanosphere templating to aid photon recycling [18]. Here, we used a SnO2 ETL due to its potential properties including high optical transparency, and the wider band gap compared to TiO2 ETL [19][20][21].…”
