“…In Turkey, some authors have recorded P. laevis in freshwater fishes and also amphibian hosts (Yıldız and Çavuşoğlu 2003). On the other hand, Smales et al, (2012) recorded P. tereticollis in Great Beyşehir Spined Loach Cobitis bilseli Battalgil, 1942 (Cobitidae) from Lake Beysehir, Turkey. Düşen and Oğuz (2008), recovered P. laevis from Marsh frog (Rana ridibunda) in Lake Işıklı.…”

“…The genera are distinguished primarily by the characteristics of the long neck and the shape of the proboscis (Amin et al, 1991). To our knowledge only species of Pomphorhynchus-Pomphorhynchus laevis (Zoega in Müller, 1776), Pomphorhynchus tereticollis (Rudolphi, 1809), and Pomphorhynchus spindletruncatus Amin, Abdullah, and Mhaisen, 2003-have been reported from Turkey (see for example Akmirza, 2002;Ozturk, 2002;Amin et al, 2003a;Yıldız, 2003;Buhurcu et al, 2007;Heckman et al, 2010;Aydogdu et al, 2011;Smales et al, 2012). Paralongicollum is distinguished from the other 3 genera by having a combination of characters, including a more or less cylindrical trunk not enlarged anteriorly, a cylindrical proboscis that may be enlarged anteriorly, a very long cylindrical neck that is neither twisted nor with a bulbous swelling, and a proboscis receptacle that is not much longer than the neck (Amin et al, 1991).…”

“…Neoechinorhynchus rutili (Müller, 1780) has been widely reported, and Neoechinorhynchus zabensis Amin, Abdullah, and Mhaisen, 2003 has been reported more recently from Turkey (Aydogdu et al, 1997(Aydogdu et al, , 2000Saglam and Sarieyyupoglu, 2002;Amin et al, 2003b;Uzunay and Soylu, 2006;Ozer, 2007;Dörücü et al, 2008;Ozturk and Ozer, 2008;Koyun, 2012;Oguz et al, 2012). A tenth species, Triaspiron aphanii Smales, Aydogdu, and Emre, 2012 (Quadrigyridae), is discussed elsewhere (Smales et al, 2012).…”
