Show more

“…Although other studies with adults and elderly subjects demonstrate higher values of latency and amplitude in males than in females, 6 12 50 in the present study no statistically significant differences were found between genders. These results corroborate with studies performed in neonates using long-latency potentials 51 and in young adults with MMN, 52 which similarly did not show differences between genders in the procedures performed.…”

“…No statistical significance obtained in the present study conforms to the findings in previous similar studies [ 11 , 23 , 37 , 40 ]. MMN variables were also not found to be different with respect to gender in the present study which supports the reports from previous similar studies [ 41 , 42 ].…”

“…A relation between age and responses in latency and amplitude is also verified in humans. With age there is an increase in latency and a decrease in amplitude (Choudhury & Benasich, ; Melo, Sleifer, et al, ).…”

“…However, in our literature review, we did not find studies comparing potential responses with attention, memory, and discrimination tests. These tests complement are objective and non‐invasive and complement the routine diagnostic evaluations for auditory changes (Junqueira & Colafêmina, ; Melo, Biaggio, Rechia, & Sleifer, ; Melo, Sleifer, Rechia, & Biaggio, ).…”
