Landono District has a potential area for developing a cattle breeding business, but cattle farming requires a considerable investment. The Budi Karya Farmers Group is one of the groups that conduct cattle farming in Landono District, South Konawe Regency. The research objective was to determine the feasibility of developing a cattle breeding business for members of the Budi Karya farmer group in Landono District, South Konawe Regency. Determination of the research location was carried out purposively with the consideration that in Landono District, there is a cattle business carried out by farmer groups. The number of respondents, namely all members of the Budi Karya farmer group, as many as 19 people and one of the officers from the livestock service who helped develop the cattle farming business in Landono District. Data analysis used feasibility and sensitivity analysis. The results of research on the development of a cattle farming business for members of the Budi Karya farmer group obtained an NPV value of Rp663.881.185, an NBCR value of 2,412, an IRR value of 35,97%, a PP value of 2 years four months, a production BEP of 2 heads and a BEP price of Rp389.153. The results of the sensitivity analysis of the cattle farming business of members of the Budi Karya farmer group to a 10% decrease in production and an increase in production costs of 10% meet the five eligibility assessment criteria so that the development of cattle farming business members of the Budi Karya farmer group is feasible to be cultivated or run.

The study aimed at determining the profile of the beef cattle farmers with semi-intensive and intensive production systems in South Konawe district. It was expected that the results of the study could be information source for stakeholders and policymakers in developing farming resources. It was conducted in July-August 2019 using participatory rural appraisal method and involved 105 farmers selected using purposive sampling and considering production system and minimum cattle ownership. Data were quantitatively described and analyzed using independent T-test. The mean age, the cattle farming experience, the number of family members, and the cattle ownership of the farmers were not significantly different. The cattle farming motivations as savings and insurance were higher among the farmers with semi-intensive production system (P<0.05), which were 2.98±0.13 vs. 2.72±0.45, but those as primary livelihood and manure producer were higher (P<0.05) among the farmers with intensive production system, which were 2.28±0.45 and 1.46±0.50 vs. 1.62±0.53 and 1.09±0.29. The participation of the family members of the farmers in the cattle farming activity was not significantly different. It was concluded that the cattle production system related to farming motivation. The farmers with the semi-intensive production systems used cattle more as saving and insurance, while those with the intensive production system used cattle as primary source of income and manure producer.

The purpose of this study was to determine the application model of the rice-cattle integrated system implemented by lowland rice farmers and to know the further acceptance of lowland rice farmers by implementing the rice-cattle integrated system. The population of this study was all lowland rice farmers or 25 people who implemented the integrated system. Determining the number of samples determined by the census. For this reason, the sample size of the survey was 25 people. The types of data used are primary and secondary data. The data analysis used is a descriptive analysis and provides an overview of the application model for rice-cattle system integration and income analysis at the study site. As a result, it is shown the integrated system application model applied by lowland rice farmers, namely cow fertilizer used as rice fertilizer and rice straw used as bran for animal feed. The income is IDR 29,068,731 / year. This income comes from the sale of cows
