Limbah pertanian cenderung dipandang sebagai bahan buangan oleh petani, sehingga sering terbuang percuma dan dibakar. Limbah pertanian yang terbuang pada dasarnya merupakan bahan organik yang mengandung unsur hara yang dibutuhkan tanaman. Dampaknya petani membutuhkan jumlah pupuk yang lebih banyak untuk meningkatkan produksi, disisi lain petani membuang bahan baku pupuk yang bermanfaat bagi kesuburan dan kesehatan tanah. Keterbatasan pengetahuan petani mengenai kandungan hara makro dan mikro limbah pertanian menyebabkan limbah dibuang dan dibakar. Umumnya petani juga tidak mengetahui metode pengomposan limbah pertanian, khususnya limbah jerami padi. Kondisi ini juga terjadi di kawasan Subak Telun Ayah, Tegalalang, Gianyar. Guna mengatasi permasalahan petani, maka dilakukan penyuluhan atau sosialisasi terkait kandungan limbah dan upaya pengolahan melalui pengomposan. Petani diberikan pengetahuan terkait pengomposan limbah pertanian dengan cepat, mudah dan menghasilkan kompos berkualitas dengan memanfaatkan dekomposer alami (seperti kotoran hewan dan tanah subur). Petani juga diberikan pengetahuan terkait manfaat dari kompos dari limbah pertanian bagi kesuburan tanah. Harapannya petani memiliki pengetahuan terkait pengelolaan limbah pertanian dan mampu memanfaatkannya, sehingga kedepannya mampun mewujudkan pertanian yang ramah lingkungan. Kata kunci: sosialisasi, limbah pertanian, pengelolaan limbah, kesuburan tanah, Subak ABSTRACT Agricultural waste tends to be seen as a waste material by farmers, so it is often wasted and burned. Agricultural waste that is wasted is basically organic material that contains nutrients needed by plants. As a result, farmers need more fertilizer to increase production, on the other hand, farmers throw away fertilizer raw materials that are beneficial for soil fertility and health. The limited knowledge of farmers regarding the macro and micro nutrient content of agricultural waste causes the waste to be disposed of and burned. Generally, farmers also do not know the method of composting agricultural waste, especially rice straw waste. This condition also occurs in the Subak Telun Ayah area, Tegalalang, Gianyar. In order to overcome farmers' problems, counseling or socialization related to waste content and processing efforts through composting is carried out. Farmers are given knowledge related to composting agricultural waste quickly, easily and to produce quality compost by utilizing natural decomposers (such as animal manure and fertile soil). Farmers are also given knowledge regarding the benefits of compost from agricultural waste for soil fertility. The objective of the study was to determine the influences of biochar amendments and Azolla sp application on soil chemical value, lead (Pb) content, and growth of paddy. The research was conducted in Growth Centre LLDIKTI I, Medan, Sumatera Utara, Indonesia, from April to July 2014. The research design used a factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was Azolla sp application: without Azolla (A0); Azolla pinnata (A1); Azolla mikropilla (A2)] and the second factor was biochar amendment without biochar (B0); RSB-Rice straw biochar (B1), RHB-Rice husk biochar (B2), CPB-coconut peat biochar (B3), OPB-Oil Palm Empty Bunch biochar (B4)]. The result showed that the biochar amendment treatments had significant differences (P<0.05) in all soil chemical values and growth parameters of paddy. The Azolla application showed significant differences (P<0.05) in plant height, number of tillers, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and Pb content in the root. The interaction among the Azolla sp and the biochar amendments showed significant differences (P<0.05) in a number of the tillers. It was concluded that the application of rice husk biochar and Azolla microphylla was able to increase soil chemical properties, increase the growth of paddy, and also increase the Pb content in soil, leaves, and roots.

Background and Objective: Rice residues such as rice straw and rice husks are very abundant in Indonesia. However, until now the remaining rice harvest has not been utilized properly. Whereas, the rest of the rice harvest can be used as organic material that can increase agricultural productivity by making compost. Therefore, this study aims to determine the most effective decomposer to be used as an acceleration in composting the remaining rice harvest. Materials and Methods: The method used in this study was to compare 4 decomposers namely PGPR, EM 4, Semanggi and Garuda in composting rice straw and rice husks. After that, the compost was analyzed for its chemical properties and bacterial diversity. Results: The results of the bacterial analysis found 26 bacteria which 4 were gram-negative with genera Pseudomonas and 22 were gram-positive, with 9 genera of Coryneform/Streptomyces and 12 genera of Clostridium. From the chemical analysis, it was found that there were differences in decomposition activity during composting due to differences in compost materials, as indicated by the observed physical and chemical parameters. Conclusion: The highest production of C-organic was straw compost with Garuda decomposer at 39.47%, also in straw Garuda decomposer compost were found 4 different genera of bacteria which mean it has a good of diversity microorganism.
