Potentialities of Investigation of Reservoir Hydrophobization by Compilation of X-Ray Core Tomography and Lateral Logging

Abstract: —The potentialities of studying rock wettability by X-ray core tomography are considered using Visean terrigenous reservoirs of the Solikamsk depression as an example. The studies included comparison of the tomograms of core samples in a dry state and saturated of sodium iodide solution, which acts as a radiopaque analog of formation water. Differences in impregnation of the core samples, characterizing their wettability, have been established. According to the tomography data, in the hydrophilic samples the s… Show more

“…The presence of high porosity and intense oil saturation is not always a sign of the productivity of an oil reservoir. In the case of natural waterflooding, due to the penetration of edge formation waters, oil oxidation can occur [14][15][16][17]. Due to the loss of oil viscosity and the predominance of heavy hydrocarbons in it, terrigenous reservoirs lose their significance for development [18][19][20].…”

“…One of the most promising objects of production is the Vereiskian oil formations, which are an interlayer of carbonate formations of various porosity and clay rocks. The most reliable idea of the structure of the pore space of rocks is given by the method of X-ray tomography of the core [4,5]. The article [6] presents the results of studying the capacitance characteristics of Vereiskian oil formations by X-ray tomography.…”
