“…Preliminary experiments show that the selectivity sequence of zeolite A is Ag > Na > Cu > Zn and the metal ion inhibitory effect is in a rank of Ag ≫ Cu > Zn . The ion exchange process has been described in detail in many works of the literature ,, and is depicted briefly here. In the case of single ion exchange, 5 g of zeolite was added to 200 mL of silver, copper, or zinc nitrate solutions with concentrations of 0.03, 0.05, and 0.05 mol/L, respectively, and the solution was kept at 4 < pH < 7 under constant stirring for 5 h. The procedure was the same for binary and ternary systems, which had a combination of Ag–Zn or Ag–Cu and Ag–Cu–Zn.…”

“…To enhance the durability of the paint film, binary and ternary ion-exchanged LTA were prepared. Our previous works studied the effect of Ag + and Cu 2+ -chabazites and Ag + and Cu 2+ -zeolite A used in powder coating. , These additives indicate relatively low discoloration of the coated surface and nice inhibition of microbial growth. Cu 2+ can give protection for the Ag + when Cu 2+ reduces to Cu 0 .…”

“…The ion exchange performance of natural zeolites can be improved by different pre-treatment procedures (Mamba et al, 2010;Yeasmin et al, 2016). The most prominent pre-treatment procedures include thermal activation, tribology activation, chemical conditioning/treatment, or a combination of them.…”

“…Temperature and sodium concentration improve the sodium ion exchange in the zeolite (Ćurković et al, 1997). Sodium hydroxides were sometimes added to raise the solution pH to 11 to accelerate the process (Yeasmin et al, 2016). Excess sodium cations and nitrate, sulfate, or chloride ions after conditioning were removed by washing with distilled water.…”
