Precipitation of Strontium Sulphate

Abstract: Precipitation of unseeded supersaturated aqueous solutions of SrSO, and growth of SrSO, crystals a t the size of approximately 20 pm were studied. Within the examined range of supersaturations, i.e. S, < 16, the nucleation in aqueous solutions is controlled by the heterogeneous nucleation mechanism. The induction period of precipitation depends on the rates of both the nucleation and growth of the formed nuclei. A considerable amount of the published literature is concerned with batch, seeded growth studies, investigations in various hydrodynamic conditions, and spontaneous precipitation experiments.
