Predictive Factors for Surgical Morbidities and Adjuvant Chemotherapy Delay for Advanced Ovarian Cancer Patients Treated by Primary Debulking Surgery or Interval Debulking Surgery

Abstract: Comorbidities and intraoperative bleeding are the most relevant findings related to surgical complications. Surgical approach (PDS or IDS) was not related with complications. Surgical complications were significantly related to ACD.

“…The impact of TTC on the prognosis of patients with EOC undergoing CRS has already been described. However, while studies published to date frequently reveal a trend towards an impact on cancer specific survival [5,6,12,[14][15][16][17]22], significant results seem to be harder to demonstrate [18,[21][22][23]. Some studies which did not find any relationship between TTC and survival [24] included patients with macroscopic residual disease.…”

“…The prognosis of EOC is poor with a 5-year overall survival (OS) rate of under 50%. It is usually diagnosed at an advanced stage (i.e., stage III-IV according to the 2014 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) classification), mainly due to the lack of an effective screening method and unspecific symptoms [2,[4][5][6][7]. Standard treatment for both early-and advanced-staged EOC consists of complete macroscopic cytoreductive surgery (CRS) followed by adjuvant platinumbased chemotherapy [2,4,8].…”

“…This suggests that downregulation of ITGA6 by MS13 could inhibit cell migration and invasion in AIPC cells. LAMA3 encodes laminins that are essential for the formation of the basement membrane and plays an additional role in regulating cell migration and mechanical signal transduction (Castro et al, 2018). Increased level of LAMA3 was reported in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, ovarian and liver cancer (Svoboda et al, 2017;Zhang et al, 2019;Tang et al, 2019;Yang et al, 2019).…”

“…Hypertension is a well-known risk factor for surgical complications in various surgeries, including breast reconstruction (31,32), joint replacement surgery (33)(34)(35), debulking cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer (36), and radical cystectomy (37). It has been also associated with increased anastomotic leaks after intestinal operation, including ileocolic anastomosis, esophagectomy, liver transplantation, and gastrectomy (38)(39)(40)(41)(42).…”
