Background: childbearing is a key component of population movements and sustainable development in low-fertility nations. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the impact of multimedia education on the childbearing intention in One-child women of Maragheh city in 2023. Method: In this intervention study in Maragheh in 2023, 94 women with one child were randomly selected and placed in two intervention and control groups. Before the intervention, people were examined using demographic information and Miller's questionnaire of desire to have children. Then, For the intervention group, three 60-minute multimedia training videos were shown in person for three weeks, and the control group did not receive any training. The data were collected using the researcher's demographic questionnaire and Miller's childbearing questionnaire in three stages before the intervention, immediately after and six weeks after the intervention. Data analysis was done with SPSS version 16 software. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of the average score of desire to have children and demographic variables (p>0.05). Before the intervention, there was no significant difference between the intervention and control groups in terms of the demographic characteristics of the subjects and the average score of women's willingness to have children in the positive and negative dimensions. While after the multimedia educational intervention, the average score of desire to have children in positive and negative dimensions, immediately after the intervention and six weeks after the intervention, had a significant difference compared to before the intervention (p<0.001). Conclusion: The findings of the study showed that carrying out multimedia educational interventions to single-child women can have a positive effect on their desire to have children. It seems that the implementation of such programs is effective in the conscious decision of families to have children and ultimately increases the intention of the individual to carry out the behavior. Introduction: Reducing childbirth rates is a serious problem in some countries. Iran is one of the countries experiencing a decrease in the fertility rate, with a more than 50% decrease in avery’s child statistics. Objective: This study aimed to determine childbearing desire and its related factors among married women. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 550 women aged 15 to 49 referring to comprehensive health centers in Rasht City were selected by multi-stage random sampling. Information was collected using a questionnaire consisting of three parts. The audience was asked about their willingness to have children in the personal and social profile section, the fertility information section, and the third section that to detect degree of desire to have children. Descriptive statistics and the chi-square and logistic regression were used to investigate the factors affecting the reluctance to have children. Results: The results of the research showed that the mean age of the women, the spouse, the age at marriage, and the duration of their marriage were 31.57±6.2, 35.69±6.6, 22.42±4.52, and 9.05±6.5 years, respectively and 54.9% of women were currently willing to have children. The relationship between unwillingness to have children was significant regarding the husband’s age (OR=1.112, 95% CI, 1.050%-1.177%, P=0.001). Also, the relationship between reluctance to have children and the age at marriage was not significant; however, it became significant with the length of marriage (OR=1.090, 95% CI, 1.019%-1.167%, P=0.013). The relationship between unwillingness to have children and the women’s opinion about the desired number of children was significant (OR=8.101, 95% CI, 3.518%-18.654%, P=0.001). The relationship between unwillingness to have children and the number of current children was significant (OR=16.515,95% CI, 8.293%-32.888%, P=0.001). Conclusion: Our analysis showed that the inability to accept the responsibility of being a parent is one of the reasons why people postpone childbearing to the fourth decade of life and even beyond. Detailed studies are needed to correct the current trend of population decline.

Background The difference in life expectancy and willingness to have children among married people is influenced by the different positions of people in the levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Aim The current research was conducted to determine the relationship between the position of married people in the levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs with their life expectancy and desire to have children. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted using convenience sampling on 140 married people in the general population of Khaf City in 2022. Data were collected using an electronic questionnaire and analyzed using the SPSS-22 statistical software, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression statistical tests at a significance level of 0.05. Results The highest average score of Maslow's Hierarchy of needs was related to the level of basic needs (5.45±4.85), and the lowest average was related to the level of self-actualization needs (2.09±5.55). The average score of life expectancy and willingness to have children in the studied subjects was 25.41±6.62 (moderate) and 18.38±6.38 (low), respectively. There was a positive and significant correlation between the levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs on life expectancy and the desire to have children in the studied subjects (p<0.001). Conclusion Basic needs are the most important needs of couples and they can directly affect life expectancy and the desire to have children. Therefore, the basic needs must be prioritized in the country's plans so that after the basic needs are met, conditions are created to improve life expectancy and the desire to have children.
