Prehospital CPR training performed with visual feedback

Abstract: INTRODUCTION:Swedish firefighters are a part of the emergency medical services. Therefore, they perform prehospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a regular basis. Training becomes crucial for maintaining the CPR skills and increasing the patients' chances of survival. Training with visual feedback is for Swedish firefighters a new way of training CPR. The aim of this study was to evaluate firefighters' perception of a CPR manikin with visual feedback. METHOD:This study had a qualitative approach. Data… Show more

“…It is difficult to achieve optimal depth and chest compressions according to the resuscitation guidelines recommendations of many people's [24,25]; however, cardiopulmonary feedback devices may help [26]. In the conducted study comparing the quality of chest compressions with and without the TrueCPR device, it showed statistically significant improvement in compression parameters in relation to both depth and frequency of chest compression, as well as the correctness of its relaxation after each compression [27]. Truszewski et al Comparing the quality of chest compressions instrumentally and using the TrueCPR and CPR-Ezy devices during the CPR performed by the nurses also showed an improvement in the chest compressions parameters in the case of using the above devices [28].…”

“…In most cases, this procedure resulted in a distinction between VF and asystole [5]. At present, the guidelines only recommend changing the leads, which may interfere with the interpretation of the rhythm in the case of low-voltage ventricular fibrillation [6].…”

“…Simulation-based training methods have been proven effective in healthcare workers education in case of both theory and practice [11,12]. Still, training should correspond with circumstances potential rescuers work in [13]. Taking all of the above into consideration, the aim of this article is to present 'practice while watching' method of teaching first aid developed by American Heart Association to employees of the chemical industry and to verify its effectiveness with attention especially to the most vital elements of first aid training that influence assimilation of knowledge and gaining practical skills.…”
