Preparation and application of poly(zwitterionic ionic liquid) to enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2

Abstract: A novel composite material PIL@TiO 2 was synthesized by sol-gel method using zwitterionic ionic liquid (1-(3-sulfonic group) propyl-3-ethylimidazole). TiO 2 was uniformly loaded on PIL (poly(1-(3-sulfonic group) propyl-3-ethylimidazole)). The large specific surface area, unique microspore structure, negative effect, and synergistic effect were caused by PIL. PIL@TiO 2 can effectively improve the separation efficiency of the electron-hole photogeneration. The electron-hole pair and Á OH play an important role i… Show more

“…98 In addition to magnetic Fe 3 O 4 NP-based PIL composites, other functional metal oxide NPs, e.g., V x O y , TiO 2 , and La 2 O 2 CO 3 with controlled shapes and sizes, have also been utilized as constituent materials for PIL composites. 99,100 Recently, Yan and coworkers reported a PIL composite doped with IL-tethered TiO 2 NPs as a gel electrolyte in quasi-solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). These DSSCs demonstrated improved device performance with an enhanced short circuit current density ( J sc ) and open circuit voltage (V oc ) compared with DSSCs with unmodified TiO 2 NPs (Fig.…”

“…The textural properties of the catalyst were defined from this analysis and these features further indicate the efficiency of the catalyst for photocatalytic transformation reactions (Table 1). The increased density of catalytically active sites in nano‐CeO 2 ‐IL improves substrate adsorption and reaction photocatalytic efficiency [38] …”

“…The increased density of catalytically active sites in nano-CeO 2 -IL improves substrate adsorption and reaction photocatalytic efficiency. [38] TGA TG analyses were carried out as depicted in Figure 6 in order to investigate the mass loss of organic components due to decomposition at high temperatures. There was no mass loss for the nano-CeO 2 support in the temperature range of 20-600 °C, as expected.…”
