Preparation and Characterization of Organically Modified MCM-48 as Heterogonous Catalyst for Oxidation of Sulfides and Thiols

Abstract: MCM-48 mesoporous synthesized and grafted with aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) and subsequently reacted by isatin to obtain the imine of MCM-48. Addition of ZrOCl 2 Á8H 2 O, leading to form the complex of Zr(IV)/isatin-MCM-48 as new Schiff base complex of zirconium(IV)-modified-MCM-48. The synthesized catalyst was characterized by XRD, TGA, FT-IR and BET. The resulting catalyst was efficient for selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides and oxidation of thiols to disulfides with hydrogen peroxide. In t… Show more

“…These results are shown in Table indicating the functionalized MCM‐41 have smaller BET surface area, narrower pore diameter and lower absorption volume. The results of N 2 adsorption and desorption isotherms of MCM‐41 and MCM‐41‐Adenine‐Zr are attributed to the anchoring of zirconium complex on the inner surface of the pores …”

“…On the other hand, heterogeneous zirconium oxide catalysts have been developed to promote the oxidation reaction under relatively mild conditions. In spite of tremendous effort dedicated to the development of heterogeneous zirconium oxide complexes, up to date, there are no report researches about the synthesis of sulfides in the presence above mentioned complex …”

“…In continuation of our studies on synthesis of new heterogeneous catalyst and its applicationsin organic reactions, Cu(I)‐1,3‐dimethylbarbituric acid modified SBA‐15 was synthesized and characterized by a variety of physico‐chemical techniques. Herein we depict the preparation of a new heterogenised catalyst by functionalization of SBA‐15with 3‐aminopropyl triethoxy silane, subsequent immobilization of 1,3‐dimethylbarbituric acid group on the synthesized SBA‐15‐ nPr‐NH 2 and subsequent to that event copper(I) complexed with 1,3‐dimethylbarbituric acid.…”

“…In continuation of our studies of the application of immobilized metal complexes on supports in organic reactions, herein we report the preparation and characterization of a Schiff base complex of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles prepared by chemical co‐precipitation of FeCl 2 and FeCl 3 according to a previously reported procedure. After dispersion, the Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles were treated with aminopropyltriethoxysilane to prepare NH 2 ‐functionalized Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles.…”
