Preparation and characterization of silver nanoparticles in natural polymers using laser ablation

Abstract: In this paper we have done a comparative study on efficiency of natural polymers for stabilizing silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) prepared by laser ablation technique. The selected polymers are starch (St), gelatin (Gt) and chitosan (Ct). The fabrication process was carried out through ablation of a pure Ag plate by nanosecond Q-switched Nd-Yg pulsed laser (λ = 532 nm, 360 mJ/pulse). The stability of the samples was studied by measuring UV-visible absorption spectra of the samples one month after preparation. The… Show more

“…However, when pectin Ag NPs were dispersed in higher concentration of NaNO 3 (200 mM) and BSA (0.25%) solutions, decrease in their SPR band intensities were observed. Difference in the absorption intensities of NPs can be due to the sedimentation of colloidal particles at higher strength of NaNO 3 and BSA solutions [29,30], which might have influenced the availability of free NPs in the suspension media resulting in decrease in absorbance intensity.…”

“…Citrate causes hypocalcaemia, fatigue, paresthesia and muscle spasms. Common methods for synthesis of SNPs by Physical approaches are laser ablation [22] and evaporation/condensation method which could be carried out using a tube furnace [23]. Physical synthesis of silver nanoparticles using tube furnace at atmospheric pressure has some disadvantages, it occupies large space, consumes a great amount of power energy [24] and laser ablation method is not a cost effective method.…”
