Preparation and evaluation of molecularly imprinted polymer liquid chromatography column for the separation of Cathine enantiomers

Abstract: In this study molecular imprinting technology was employed to prepare a specific affinity sorbent for the resolution of Cathine, a chiral drug product. The molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared by non-covalent molecular imprinting with either (+) or (-)-Cathine (threo-2-amino-1-hydroxy-1-phenyl propane; norpseudoephedrine) as the template. Methacrylic acid and ethylene glycol di-methacrylate were copolymerized in the presence of the template molecule. The bulk polymerization was carried out in chlor… Show more

“…Devido à necessidade de maceração, as partículas finais apresentam tamanho homogêneo, porém, formato irregular [43] . Relatos na literatura apresentam a utilização deste tipo de polimerização para a obtenção de MIPs empregados em diversas técnicas de preparo de amostras, tais como SPE, SPME, entre outras [52,53,59] .…”

“…Molecularly imprinted polymers have recently attracted the interest of many researchers as a remarkable type of chiral stationary phases that are effectively employed in the chiral separation of numerous racemic mixtures . In the last few years, this technique has presented promising results in the preparation of specific groups of smart polymers with very high enantio‐selective properties that enable the separation of targeted specific enantiomers coexisting with their mirror images .…”
