“…The first experiments in gas chromatography were in 1983 at Parma University, Italy [3]. Homologues of alcohols, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic compounds were separated on a column packed with calix [8]arene supported on silanized Chromosorb W. Little progress has been reported since then due to poor solubility and coating difficulties of the parent ligands. Recently, Feltl et al [4,5] further studied the inclusion properties of the basic, unsubstituted calixarenes in gas chromatography but, as the result of low column efficiency, the utility of calixarenes in separations and the precision of the resuits were greatly limited.…”

“…The combined chloroform layers were washed with water to remove DMSO and then dried over sodium sulfate. The The fused silica columns DB-TFA-CD-OV-1701, PMHP-CD-OV-1701 and PSODB-3-15C5 were prepared according to the literature [6,7,10].…”

“…Especially crown ether polysiloxane stationary phases [8] show unique selectivity for aromatic compounds and their derivatives. In our laboratory, we prepared nundecycloxymethyl-18-crown-6 polysiloxane (PSO-11-18C6) [9], dibenzo-propyl-15-crown-5 polysiloxane (PSO-DB-3-15C5) [10], dihydroxy-substituted saturated urushiol crown ether (DHSU14C4) [i1] and 3, 5-dibutyl-unsymmetricaldibenzo-14-crown-4-dihydroxy (cis and trans) [12]. These crown ethers possess good film-forming ability, high thermal stability, high column efficiency and excellent selectivity in separating alcohols and positional isomers of aromatic compounds.…”
