Preparation and Properties Testing of Intelligent Color-Changing Camouflage Coating

Abstract: The traditional camouflage way is only used to camouflage the military objectives in the fixed background. As the seasons and temperature change, the background color is undergoing tremendous changes. To solve this problem, a new kind of intelligent camouflage coating was invented whose color changes with the temperature and blends with the background. Through orthogonal design and experiments, the composition of raw materials and mixture ratio has been determined. The physical and chemical performances of the… Show more

“…1 Traditional camouage is achieved by wearing a camouage coat with similar colors or textures to the surroundings, which is only used to camouage military objectives in a xed background. 2 However, as the location changes, these may be discovered by enemies because of the differences between the camouage coat and the new background. Adaptive camouage technologies are being developed.…”

“…The chemical and physical properties of the coating, such as discoloration temperature and drying time, were tested. The results indicated that the coating had favorable coating effect, excellent chemical and mechanical properties, and can meet the requirements of seasonal camouflage [114,115]. Recently, intelligent adhesion of geckos has been focused on more and more by researchers, however, they have all concentrated on a mere adhesion to solids or liquids, and obtaining a surface of switchable adhesion to both solids and water is still an obstacle.…”

Zhang J. adopted a feasible and cost-effective an annealing assisted solution strategy to fabricate VO 2 coatings with high porosity, high purity, and uniform particle size, using self-made ammonium citrate vanadate (IV) and hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as precursors and dispersants.…”

“…Previous research was mainly focused on the single spectral ranges, for example, visible, infrared and radar. Invisibility cloak and camouflage coating have been realized in the exploration of invisibility at visible frequencies [6][7][8]. Several kinds of infrared spectral selective materials, such as coreshell composites, nanocom posite films and multilayered structures, have been developed to lower infrared emissivity at the atmospheric window of 3-5 µm and 8-14 µm [9][10][11].…”
