According to our previous study, the decomposition of ammonium paramolybdate and its reduction to Mo 2 C occurred in three distinct stages. Ammonium paramolybdate decomposed to MoO 3 firstly at 595.8 K, MoO 3 was then reduced to MoO 2 at the range of 680–960 K, and subsequently carbonized to Mo 2 C at 1201.1 K. The modification process in this study should be that the MoO 3 decomposed from ammonium paramolybdate dissolved in the flux and penetrated into the preform resulting in the formation of Mo 2 C from inside.…”
