“…Consequently, the viscosity of the asphalt was reduced. [43][44][45] The above results are further conrmed by high resolution XPS spectra of C1s and O1s of asphalts ( Fig. 10 and 11).…”

“…Asphalt Rubber (AR) generally refers to the mixture containing crumb rubber (CR), which is obtained by grinding the recycled crumbs of tires with base asphalt [1]. Compared to just the base asphalt, AR not only has better resistance to high-temperature permanent deformation, low-temperature deformability, anti-ageing and anti-fatigue properties [2][3][4][5][6][7][8], but has an obvious noise reduction property due to CR's high damping property [9]. So, if AR could be used worldwide, it not only could act as a way to improve the performance of pavement, but it could be a solution to recycle the great number of waste tires, providing high returns including both environmental protection and financial aspects.…”

“…For example, the asphalt binder modified by nano silica and pretreated rubber, could have very close penetration and soften point values to SBS modified asphalt binder, while actually have quiet different viscoelastic behavior (Han et al 2017). Viscosity reflects the fluid's resistance to motion and has been used to evaluate the comprehensive performance of asphalt binder for long (Akisetty et al 2009;Hesami et al 2012;Li et al 2016). Experiments methods such as Brookfield rotational viscometer, kinematic viscosity, and vacuum capillary viscometer have been developed to evaluate the apparent viscosity, kinematic viscosity, and dynamic viscosity of asphalt binder respectively, and the results can reflect the high-temperature performance of asphalt binder indirectly (Akisetty et al 2009).…”
