“…1. The XRD data are consistent with that reported for Ce x Zr 1-x O 2 solid solutions [22]. The well-known ceria-zirconia phase diagram indicates that with the addition of zirconia, cubic ceria is progressively transformed into t , t , t, m phase with metastable pyrochlore-like structures.…”

“…Thus, it is understandable that owing to the comparatively low content of Zr in the lattice of CeO 2 for CZAB0 and CZAB4, undesirable bulk oxygen mobility is obtained, resulting in the appearance of the high-temperature reduction peak. As revealed in the XRD and Raman sections, for CZAB6, homogeneous CZ solid solution is formed, and consequently enhanced bulk oxygen mobility is obtained, therefore, CZAB6 features only one reduction peak, which is similar with the reduction characteristic of single Ce 0.5 Zr 0.5 O 2 compound [35,48,49]. When the content of Ba reaches 8 wt%, the remnant Ba enters into the lattice of CZ to form ternary CZBa solid solution, which further facilitates the formation of more oxygen vacancies and thus enhanced reduction ability is obtained.…”

“…When Zr 4+ with smaller ionic radius enters into the framework of CeO 2 , the Raman band would shift to higher wave number owing to the shorter M O bond length. And the principal peak of Ce 0.5 Zr 0.5 O 2 is located at about 472 cm −1 [35]. It can be seen from Fig.…”

“…Crystalline, non-agglomerated, nano-sized Al 2 O 3 -ZrO 2 prepared by Zhou and coworkers [57] can be cited as examples, which had a particle diameter of about 7 nm, followed by tetragonal zirconia polycrystals stabilized by y rium (3 mol%.) with a diameter of 21.3 nm obtained by Hsu et al [58] as well as lead catalysts based on CdO 2 -ZrO 2 (in a single phase) with a diameter of 5.2 to 28.9 nm [59] and the Y 2 O 3 -ZrO 2 powder with a crystal diameter of 53-109 µm obtained by Aruna et al [60].…”
