“…The value for the sedimentation coefficient has usually been found to be 7.1-7.3 S (Kasper and Deutsch, 1964;Sanders et al, 1959;Poillon and Bearn, 1966;Vasiletz et al 1972). Three reports agree on a diffusion coefficient of 4.4-4.6 X 10-7 cm2/s, (Sanders et al, 1959;Vasiletz et al, 1972;Andrews, 1966), one of these values being derived from gel filtration data (Andrews, 1966). The value given by Kasper and Deutsch (1964) of 3.8 X 10-7 cm2 s~' is obviously in error.…”

“…Since then more than ten different methods have been published in the chemical literature dealing with the isolation and characterization of this cuproprotein [2,22,25,7,17,6,18,4,21,23,9]. Only a few of the published procedures have been claimed suitable for large scale work, and the ones that have are complicated and time consuming, and few data are given regarding yields and purity.…”

“…Methods for preparation of this protein from serum of various species has also been described by Broman [3], Osaki [14], Deutsch [6] and Curzon and Vallet [5]. In 1950, Kominz [9] proposed methods for isolating ceruloplasmin from Cohn fraction IV-1 of Method 6 [4], Sanders et al [17] in 1959, described a procedure for preparing ceruloplasmin from Fraction IV-1, using the anion exchanger diethylaminoethyl cellulose. Evaluation of the various methods convinced us that they were not readily adaptable for large scale fractionation.…”
