Preparation of high entropy nitride ceramic nanofibers from liquid precursor for CO2 photocatalytic reduction

Abstract: Subjected to the manufacturing methods (sputtering or mechanochemical synthesis), the reported high entropy nitrides (HENs) were limited to the forms of coating and powder. Here, we report a novel strategy in preparing HEN ceramic nanofibers (HENCNFs) from liquid precursor via electrospinning followed by high‐temperature NH3 atmosphere nitridation. The as‐prepared HENCNFs include five uniform dispersed metal elements, Ti, Hf, Nb, Ta, and Mo, and have a single face‐centered cubic structure. Interestingly, the o… Show more

“…Preceramic polymers containing Zr and Si elements (PZS) were synthesized according to the method reported. 24 Briefly, zirconium propoxide and triethoxymethylsilane with a molar ratio of 5:4 were dissolved in n-propanol, and acetylacetone was used as the chelating agent. Deionized water was added to initiate hydrolysis reactions of precursors.…”

“…It is worth noting that different surface morphologies of high entropy materials also affect their applications. For example, there is a significant difference in catalytic effect between the powder form [23] and the nanofiber form [24]. This paper compiles the research results of high entropy materials as catalysts for water electrolysis in recent years, analyzes and prospects how to achieve better electrocatalytic performance of high entropy materials, with the hope of bringing more inspiration for the research in this direction.…”

“…Ceramics are defined as inorganic, nonmetallic materials made up of ionic, covalent, or mixed bonds [ 6 ], and nitride ceramics are kinds of ceramic compounds connected by an inorganic hybrid element-N chemical bond. Nitride ceramics have attracted much attention because of their unique properties [ 7 , 8 ]. The introduction of a nitrogen atom into ceramic structures has significant effects in enhancing their wear, toughness, mechanical properties, and thermo-oxidative stability [ 9 ].…”
