“…As the Freundlich model was characterized by 1/n, the heterogeneity factor, the values of 1/n obtained in the present work are between 0.1 < 1/n < 1.0 which represents good adsorption of metal ions. The similar behavior of Cd(II) and Pb(II) adsorption process fitting to Freundlich isotherm with exclusively involvement of ion exchange, physical sorption and chelation mechanism was reported by Pehlivan et al and Li et al [13,31]. The fact that the Freundlich isotherm fits the data in the present work may be due to heterogeneous distribution of active sites and the supply of these adsorption sites was infinite on studied biochar surface.…”

“…The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, which assumes a monolayer adsorption on a homogenous surface and a multilayer adsorption on a heterogeneous surface respectively, are the most frequently used models to represent the data of adsorption from the solution [31].…”

“…The model has been widely used by researchers on kinetic study of metal ions adsorption onto various derived adsorbents (Rengaraj et al 2003(Rengaraj et al , 2004Li et al 2011;Argun and Dursun 2008). Batch mode experiments were carried out by varying the concentration of the metal solutions at 27 °C and at pH 3.0 for Cr(VI) metal ion and at pH 6.0 for Cd(II), Pb(II) and Ni(II) metal ions used in this study.…”

“…The positive values of DS° suggested that the degrees of freedom increased at the solid-liquid interface during the adsorption. During the adsorption process, the coordinated water molecules were displaced by metal cations, resulting in increased randomness in the adsorbent-adsorbate system (Baraka et al 2007, Li et al 2011). …”
