Preparation of PVDF-CNT composite

Abstract: Limitations of ceramic piezomaterials (brittleness, toxicity of lead-containing samples, difficulties of complicated shapes preparations, etc.) call for the research in the field of piezoelectric polymers. One of them is polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). It could be prepared in various forms: thin films, bulk samples, fibers. PVDF fibers attract the most attention because of high flexibility, lightweight, mechanical stability, chemical inertness. Properties of PVDF fibers can be tuned using dopant material: cera… Show more

“…(DMSO, Sigma Aldrich), acetone p.a. (Ac, Sigma Aldrich), acetic acid (AA, Penta, Bratislava, Slovakia), and formic acid (FA, Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) were used for polymers solutions preparation [ 18 , 19 , 20 , 38 , 39 ]. For PVDF solutions, solvents DMSO and Ac were mixed in a volume ratio 7:3.…”

“…There is a specific setting of spinning parameters for each material and its different concentrations in the precursor (as described in Sections 3.1 and 3.2). In the experimental or laboratory spinning process, it is difficult to reduce all causes of undesirable defects, although the production parameters were chosen, emphasizing the quality and high βphase of the fibers [11].…”

“…In addition, there are investigations in which other components are used for PVDF samples to improve chemical, mechanical are electrical properties, to increase chemical resistance, elasticity, mechanical strength, conductivity, electrical generated output, etc. Among these components, and their mixtures, are PMMA [18], Zirconia Titanate (PZT) [19], Barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) [20], cellulose [21], Single and Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs-MWCNTs) [20,[22][23][24][25][26], always looking for improving the PVDF polymeric matrix by converting α phase into β phase. It is important to mention that none of these describe in detail the steps followed during preparation of samples, and even less for the preparation of films for use in a testing device.…”
