Preparation, thermostability, and hydrophobic properties ofTiO2/poly(dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate) nanocomposites

Abstract: Poly(dodecafluoroheptyl methacrylate) (PDFMA)/titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocomposites with high TiO2 content were successfully prepared by emulsion polymerization process. Before polymerization, nano‐TiO2 was pretreated by silane coupling agent. Surface groups and composition of the modified nano‐TiO2 were characterized by Fourier transform infrared and X‐ray photoelectron spectra. The microstructure of nanocomposites was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).… Show more

“…Figure 5 revealed calcination at 600 °C was the unique process to produce the total PV removal. In addition, TDN and TiO 2 samples showed a weight loss between 1–2%, which is related with the decomposition of same hydroxyls groups of titanium dioxide surface [ 42 ].…”

“…The nano‐TiO 2 was dried in a vacuum oven at 70°C for 15 h prior to use. The TFEMA was passed through a column of basic alumina and distilled under reduced pressure to remove the inhibitor, and were stored in a refrigerator before use . The silane coupling agent γ‐(methacryloyloxy) propyltrimethoxysilane (KH570) was used to modify the nano‐TiO 2 .…”

“…Fluoropolymer‐inorganic nanocomposites not only have good physical properties, such as high hardness and high strength of inorganic materials, but also have low surface free energy and thermal stability of fluoropolymer materials . At the same time, fluorine‐containing composites have been used to prepare super‐hydrophobic surfaces , which provides a method to address the problem of water absorption of combustible cartridges. Therefore, the addition of fluoropolymer to the nitrocellulose varnish can solve the problem of poor wear resistance and flammability of the initial nitrocellulose coating, and it is more significant in improving the adaptability of the combustible cartridge.…”

“…This behavior might be due to the high surface free energy of SiO 2 particles of small granularity. 33 Fig . 4 depicts the SEM images of TMIP (a and b), TNIP (c and d), SiO 2 /MIP (e and f) and SiO 2 /NIP (g and h).…”
