Preserving Traditional Botanical Knowledge: The Importance of Phytogeographic and Ethnobotanical Inventory of Peruvian Dye Plants

Abstract: Peru is a megadiverse country with native species of all kinds, including dye plants, which have been used for hundreds of years by the local population. “…Las colectas se realizaron en tres zonas ubicadas en el sector Quebrada de Los Molles y Puente de la Primera Agua (zona baja y alta) del Distrito de San Benito, Provincia de Contumazá, Departamento de Cajamarca (figura 1). Las coordenadas de San Benito son 07°25'32" S y 78°55'37" W, y una altitud de 1.370 m s. n. m. Allí se identificaron relictos de algodonales silvestres con base en las exploraciones botánicas descritas por Brako y Zarucchi (1993) y Mostacero et al (2017).
