Introduction: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread worldwide, and on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic.Objective: The objective of the study was to determine the number of patients with COVID-19, as well as age structure, sex, mortality in the City of Ljubuški in the period of one year starting from the first positive case in 2020 (June 25, 2020).Subjects and methods: A retrospective epidemiological study of reported cases of COVID-19 was conducted at the Community Healthcare Center Ljubuški.Results: Fccording to the Community Healthcare Center Ljubuški Health from June 2020 to June 2021 in the area of the City of Ljubuški, there were 6675 COVID-19 tests, of which 2284 were positive for COVID-19 infection. The highest number of identified cases of COVID-19 infection was in April 2021, followed by November 2020. During the observed one-year period, 51.7% of men and 48.3% of women in the total sample tested positive for COVID-19 infection. The highest percentage of COVID-19 positive samples were in the age group from 41 to 60 years and the age group from 21 to 40 years. Out of the 82 deaths from COVID-19 infection, 67.1% were male and 32.9% female. The mean age of deaths from COVID -19 infection was 75.2 ± 12.4 years.
Conclusion:In the study period, males became more frequently infected with COVID-19 infection, and in relation to age we have a wide range of results.
