Prespective of medical students towards experimental biochemistry

Abstract: Objective: The simple curriculum of Medical science has the complex biochemical theories which are hard to grasp. To address this problem, practical knowledge and change in approach to study is relevant to have a better foundation in clinical years; where this information has to be applied. Methodology: Modifications were made in experimental biochemistry and genetics to focus on more applied knowledge through experiments and problem-based learning. A seven-item questionnaire to check the students’ persp… Show more

“…This is particularly unfortunate, as experimental biochemistry possesses the answer to microscopic abnormalities that may account for most, if not all, medically documented pathologies in the clinic. 6,8 Shying away from the traditional, convenient, didactic, lecturer-centered instructions, 9 educators have turned to develop modalities that facilitate the development of problem-solving, critical thinking and communication skills, each being enhanced through slightly different teaching modalities. 10 One aspect that is widely accepted, however, is the importance of student engagement towards both educators and other students, 11 as the development of these skills is pertinent not only to their prospective medical practice but also other sciences.…”

“…This often leads to students regarding the subject as boring, irrelevant, or jeopardizing their field of future practice. This is particularly unfortunate, as experimental biochemistry possesses the answer to microscopic abnormalities that may account for most, if not all, medically documented pathologies in the clinic 6,8 . Shying away from the traditional, convenient, didactic, lecturer‐centered instructions, 9 educators have turned to develop modalities that facilitate the development of problem‐solving, critical thinking and communication skills, each being enhanced through slightly different teaching modalities 10 .…”

“…There have been various studies done on the current problem. Mansoor's initial investigation was written (Mansoor & Ashraf, 2019), The interview data was examined using the victimization descriptive analysis technique. Since they are aware that reading strategies would help them with reading comprehension, students have been reported to have a favorable attitude toward reading strategies.…”
