Pressure-relief effect of coal rock body of long distance lower protective seam mined based on FLAC3D

Abstract: According to the specific geological condition, analyzed the stress distribution of the overlying strata, the displacement of pressure released seam, thickness variation and the distribution of plastic zones by FLAC 3D software to simulate mining of the long-distance lower protective seam. The research results show that the distribution of vertical stress appears as a "Double-hump" within the pressure-relief range of the protected coal seam and the swelling deformation curve of coal bodies takes an "M" shape. … Show more

“…Based on the energy dissipation theory, the optimal energy conversion ratio occurs when the TBM cutters break the rock mass into rock chips with larger size [21]. Meanwhile, invalid energy consumption occurs in the production of rock chips with smaller particle size (including the rock powder).…”

“…Rock chips in TBM are formed by the disc cutters cutting the rock palm surface. According to the rock fragmentation theory [21], the rock-breaking effect of TBM disc cutters is achieved by a mixed action of the tensile failure, crushing failure, and shearing failure of rock mass [22,23]. The rock chip information can directly reflect the "rock-machine" interaction mechanism, identify the quality of surrounding rock and the geology in TBM construction, and indirectly reflect the mechanical properties and tunneling parameters of TBM [24].…”

“…Multi-seam coal mining model shown in Figure 5 is built by the finite element analysis software FLAC 3D [17]. As it can track the stress changes and failure behavior of analysis object based on the finite difference algorithm and large deformation, this software is particularly appropriate for the researches on rock mass, and has become one of the most important tools in mining engineering.…”

“…Wang et al [13] and Xue et al [14] formulated a fracture evolution law for the overlying strata following coal mining. Tang et al [15], Zhang et al [16], Xu and Han [17], and Zhang et al [18] analyzed the stress distribution and deformation of the protected layer during the mining process of the lower protective layer. Yang et al [19] studied the deformation and failure characteristics of the overlying strata, development law of mining stress and fracture, and size of the stress release area.…”
