The prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Indonesia is high, contributing to the fourth mortality rate for non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. The population of T2DM patients spread across all provinces, including West Java, which is the most populous province in Indonesia. One of the referral hospitals in West Java is Al-Ihsan Regional General Hospital in Bandung regency. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics of T2DM patients who came to Al-Ihsan Regional General Hospital according to age, gender, and comorbidities parameters. It was a descriptive cross-sectional study using secondary data from medical records of T2DM patients between January 2017 and November 2020. The results were the highest prevalence and incidence of T2DM were in 2017 with as many as 5,051 and 653 respectively; the highest gender each year was female, range between 584–3,333, with the highest male: female ratio of 1:2 in 2017; the age group with the highest prevalence was 55–65 years which was 3,468 (39.53%); and top five comorbidities were hypertension (35.68%), cataracts (6.01%), osteoarthritis (3.58%), pulmonary tuberculosis (2.92%) and dyspepsia (2.91%). This study concluded that the prevalence and incidence of T2DM in Al-Ihsan Regional General Hospital were high, with the predominant female patients, elderly, and comorbid hypertension. KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI RSUD AL-IHSANAngka kejadian diabetes melitus tipe 2 (DMT2) di Indonesia cukup tinggi, menyumbangkan angka kematian keempat penyakit tidak menular di Indonesia. Penderita DMT2 tersebar di seluruh provinsi, termasuk Jawa Barat yang merupakan provinsi terpadat di Indonesia. Salah satu rumah sakit rujukan di Jawa Barat adalah RSUD Al-Ihsan di Kabupaten Bandung. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menggambarkan karakteristik pasien DMT2 yang datang ke RSUD Al-Ihsan dilihat dari usia, jenis kelamin, dan komorbid. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif cross-sectional menggunakan data sekunder berupa rekam medis pasien DMT2 periode Januari 2017 hingga November 2020. Didapatkan bahwa prevalensi dan insidensi DMT2 tertinggi pada tahun 2017 sebesar 5.051 dan 653 masing-masing; jenis kelamin terbanyak pada setiap tahun adalah wanita sebesar 584–3.333 dengan rasio pria:wanita tertinggi 1:2 pada tahun 2017; kelompok usia dengan prevalensi tertinggi adalah 55–65 tahun sebesar 3.468 (39,53%); dan lima komorbid tertinggi adalah hipertensi (35,68%), katarak (6,01%), osteoartritis (3,58%), tuberkulosis paru (2,92%), dan dispepsia (2,91%). Simpulan penelitian ini adalah prevalensi dan insidensi DMT2 di RSUD Al-Ihsan tinggi dengan pasien terbanyak wanita, lanjut usia, dan komorbid hipertensi.

Abstract. Risqiyah W, Narulita E, Rofiqoh A, Ludfi AS, Iqbal M. 2021. Morphological and molecular identification of multi-antibiotic resistant bacteria in the wound site of diabetic ulcers. Biodiversitas 23: 663-670. The study aimed to determine the characteristics of diverse species of bacteria found in diabetic ulcers and the inhibition of antibiotics against these bacteria. The method used is Gram staining for morphological characterization, identification using 16S rRNA gene, and pour plate for antibiotic resistance test. The morphological characterization result showed that the colonies had white color, circular shape, flat elevation, entire edge, small size, and basil shape with Gram negative type of bacteria. Another result showed yellow, greenish, pellucid, and green color, irregular shape, raised elevation, undulate and lobate edge, medium size, coccus and Gram positive type of bacteria. Query cover of molecular identification showed 73-100% and 77.61-96.77% for the result of similarity identification with Alcaligenes faecalis, Shigella flexneri, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus mirabilis, and Acinetobacter seohaensis. The identification and antibiotic resistance testing showed that the bacterial species found in diabetic ulcers was A. faecalis strain NRBC 13111, which was resistant to all tested antibiotics, except A. faecalis strain NRBC 13111 from the UB 2.3K and A. faecalis strain NRBC 13111 from the sample UB 3.4M. Enterococcus faecalis strain ATCC 19433 was resistant to ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, clindamycin and metronidazole, intermediates to cefoperazone, and sensitive to ciprofloxacin. Proteus mirabilis strain JCM 1669 was resistant to clindamycin and metronidazole, sensitive to ceftriaxone and ciprofloxacin, intermediates to ceftazidime and cefoperazone. Proteus mirabilis strain ATCC 29906, A. seohaensis strain SW-100 and S. flexneri strain ATCC 29903 were resistant to all tested antibiotics.

Objective: The contemporary study conceded out on distribution of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in civil hospital new Darband and its rural areas such as Serri, Shanayia, Sookal, Baghwai and Nika paani. During directing research work the information and data was placid from several villages including new Darband. This demonstrates higher indication of tuberculosis in female as compared to males hence high-risk of disease in females is due to their neighboring contact, poor sanitation, and lack of health education, poor-hygiene and lack of awareness.Methods: During research work Cross sectional study was conducted in civil hospital new Darband during the months of calendar from May to October. All patients were cross-examined by using paper questionnaire comprised questions about the socio-economics, demographic such as Age, gender and area (where they were belonging), previous family tuberculosis history and others while they were examined clinically by qualified medical officer. Additionally ICT serological testation was used to conform the suspected agents which were done by the average blood serum. They were studied further to conform their suspicions in sputum by applying Ziehl-Neelson staining method to investigate the AFB (Acid Fast Bacilli) in sputum smear which was carried-out in hospital laboratory. AFB (Acid Fast Bacilli) smears were introduced to microscopic examination for fluorochrome stain of specimen.Results: 15 were positive cases out of 374 cases. Greater Incidence of tuberculosis was testified in Sookal 5 (8.33%) while minimum frequency of tuberculosis was demonstrated in Tehsil New Darband 0 (0%). In Gender wise prevalence in which 15 positive cases of tuberculosis 4(2.42%) were male while 11(5.26%) were female. The risk of mycobacterium tuberculosis were established in population of intermediate age people such as 14-40 years (4.54%) although less risk of disease are originated in the children and risk in adult was (2.22%). In calendar of month-wise prevalence the month of October (7.69%) was documented for higher cases Instead of July. In July rare or non-cases are reported mean (0%). Conclusion:For the incidence of TB poverty, poor cleanliness, absence of schooling, less viability of medications and additionally poor pharmaceutical indicating major elements. The TB control program will be effective, convenience to treatment centers and health education, well qualified and active persons are provided, and program must be for gigantic duration. Because well-trained microbiologist can be execute sputum Acid fast staining technique very accurately instead of non-concern partitions. Hence, such thoughtful research work assumes can play vital role for the control of TB in Pakistan, especially in New Darband and its ruler areas that are under review.
