Prevalence of obesity, central obesity and the associated factors in urban population aged 20–70 years, in the north of Iran: a population‐based study and regression approach

Abstract: Obesity is an undesirable outcome of changing of lifestyle and behaviours. It is also reversible predisposing factor for the development of several debilitating diseases. This study was aimed to determine the prevalence rate of obesity, overweight, central obesity and their associated factors in the north of Iran. “…A similar gender differential has also been reported in other studies in the Arab Gulf region (10,14) . Further, we found that the prevalence and odds of obesity as well as BMI increased with age until the fifth decade in both males and females and then declined, similar to age-related changes reported in Saudis (15) and Iranians (16) .
