Show more

“…The frequency of M. bovis infection was compatible with previous research carried out in Brazil by PRETTO et al (2001), JUNQUEIRA (2017), MANZI et al (2018) andSALINA et al (2020) who detected an occurence ranging from 1 to 3%. In Australia, low frequencies for M. bovis infection were reported by MORTON et al (2014), who stated that; although, the microorganism is present in less than 1.0% of herds, it can cause severe disease in some of them.…”

“…Thus, it is difficult to compare the occurrence of the most prevalent species of these agents in the country (SALINA et al, 2020). The first isolation of M. bovis from bovine milk occurred in a mastitis outbreak in Paraná (METTIFOGO et al, 1996) and, since then, few studies have been conducted, restricting the identification of the agent in herds in Paraná, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goiás, with occurence in animals ranging from 1 to 3% (PRETTO et al, 2001;FRANCHESCHINI et al, 2008;JUNQUEIRA, 2017;JOAQUIM et al, 2018;MANZI et al, 2018).…”

“…Junqueira et al (2017) reported the occurrence of M. bovis (3%) in samples of bovine clinical mastitis. Manzi et al (2018), in a study regarding the occurrence of M. bovis in milk expansion tanks, obtained 1.4% for the same species.…”

“…The literature provides data related only to the occurrence of M. bovis in dairy herds. In milk expansion tanks, Manzi et al (2018) obtained a 1.4% prevalence of M. bovis, in 67 tank samples analyzed. Junqueira et al (2017) analyzed milk samples from clinical mastitis and reported the occurrence of 3% of M. bovis detected by conventional PCR.…”

“…The positivity of Mollicutes in Brazilian herds can vary and was demonstrated in previous studies with 3.0% and 8.6% of clinical mastitis samples [16,17] and 16.4% of bulk tanks positive for this class of microorganisms [33]. In other countries, positivity is also variable: in the USA, it varies from 1 to 8% [34]; in Greece, to 5.4% [35]; in Thailand, to 1.8% [36]; and in Egypt, to 7.53% [37].…”
