Preventive Effect of Liupao Tea Polyphenols on HCl/Ethanol-Induced Gastric Injury in Mice

Abstract: Liupao tea is a traditional Chinese tea drink. The preventive effect of crude polyphenols in Liupao tea on HCl/ethanol-induced gastric injury was investigated in this study. After a model of gastric injury in mice was established, mouse serum and tissues were analyzed by biochemical and molecular biological methods. The results showed that Liupao tea polyphenols (LTPs) could effectively reduce the area of gastric mucosal lesions, decrease the volume of gastric juice, and increase the pH of gastric juice in mic… Show more

“…Then, 1 μL 10.0 μM upstream primer and 1 μL 10.0 μM downstream primer (Table 1 , Thermo Fisher Scientific) and 7.0 μL sterile double distilled water were added to the 1.0 μL reaction fluid for amplification. The reaction conditions were 95 °C denaturation for 3 min, 60 °C annealing for 30 s, and 95 °C extension for 1 s. The relative expression intensity of each gene to be tested and the control cell (hydrogen peroxide induced oxidative damage cell) was calculated by the 2 -∆∆Ct method through the measured CT value [ 24 ].…”

“…According to the experimental operation of MDLF on oxidative damage induced by H 2 O 2 in HEK 293 T cells, the cells were cultured and treated with MDLF for 48 h. Then the MDA, SOD, GSH, GSH-Px, and CAT levels in cells of each group were measured according to the kit instructions (Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Institute, Nanjing City, China) [24].…”

“…As a result, the aromatic free radicals formed will be stable owing to the resonance effect. On the other hand, polyphenols can enter the lipid bilayer of the gastric mucosa, protecting the entire lipid layer from oxidation [53,54]. Our results indicated that EPE has a gastroprotective effect against gastric ulcers ethanol-induced.…”

“…LBT polyphenols activated the expression of copper/zinc SOD (Cu/Zn SOD), CAT, and neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) and downregulated the expression of iNOS and cyclooxygenase‐2 (COX‐2), thus protecting gastric mucosa and inhibiting gastric injury. The identical components of raw LBT and LBT polyphenols included GA, catechin, caffeine, EGCG, epicatechin, and epicatechin gallate, the independent action and synergistic effect of which have not been explored (Qian et al., 2018; Zhu, Peng et al., 2020). LBIT polyphenols also showed a protective effect against HCl/ethanol‐induced gastric damage by effectively elevating the serum levels of SOD, GSH, MDA, and secreted immunoglobulin A antibodies in the gastric.…”
